Long-standing friends and collaborators Lil Silva and Sampha have delivered a heavenly new track titled "Backwards".

Blending their club influences with their unique talents as songwriters, the pair create an intriguing performance over a wave of different textures. We open with a descending synth melody, which Sampha mirrors with his vocals before breaking into a powerful verse, addressing the guilt he feels for wanting to move on from past pain. Over choppy percussion and ghostly vocal effects, Lil Silva in turn chimes in with layers of harmonies to add a futuristic effect to the production.

Sharing some thoughts on the track, Lil Silva comments: "'Backwards' is the feeling of alienation and constantly venting in a matrix you find yourself inside, whatever that may be… Restricted and feeling guilty to move forward, constantly going backwards mentally… I guess the song is about being in a never-ending cycle and the heaviness that can bring on you…It's a metaphor for that."
