Lancey Foux Gets Straight To The Point On "Don't! Trust Me"

April 08, 2021

A couple of weeks ago, Lancey Foux put out his new mixtape, First Degree, and today he returns with visuals for the T99 and Redda-produced "Don't! Trust Me".

Testament to his own strong identity, the tape was built from the work of a raft of different producers, but it worked. Grandiose and dramatic but still snarling and raw, it drew as much from trap and rap as it did his love of punk aesthetics.

"Don't! Trust Me", in particular, is emblematic of just that. There's a high end sheen to it, but standing shy of two minutes long, it's delivered like a lightning flash jab to the jaw. Similarly, the visuals from Slik Syd or just as direct, following the East Londoner's back-lit silhouette as he sprays nothing but pure venom. A short sharp shock if ever there was one.
