Kwazi Cort Takes His Guitar-Laced Rap Sound Into Deep Space On "Trapstar II"

Having discovered rock greats like Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd during a trip to Camden, Kwazi Cort dissected the riffs and reassembled them into something he could incorporate into his rap sound for something he calls "Grock". Five years after he uploaded his first ever track to SoundCloud, "Trapstar", he's now back with the sequel.

Enhancing the funk guitar licks and soulful vocals of the original instrumental with more of a blues edge, "Trapstar II" shows just how far he's come with his rap-rock fusion. Matching those space-age grooves, the Cebiso Mhlanga-directed video casts Cort as an astronaut, headed out on a lonely intergalactic voyage into deep space.

Balancing moments reminiscent of Matthew McConaughey in Interstellar against the influence of the 2Pac and Jay Z bombast that first endeared him to rap, "Trapstar II" is a landmark achievement for the Brixton rhymer.
