North West Londoner Kwaku Asante Returns With Remarkable Neo-Soul Jam "Illusions"

Steadily building momentum in the run-up to his forthcoming project, Ode, Kwaku Asante is back with the second teaser, "Illusions'. It's a captivating mix of organ-like piano licks, groovy percussions and an acoustic guitar that later breaks into a salsa-inspired solo. With his signature baritone vocals, Asante's songwriting cuts through the light-hearted production work of Dan Holloway as he spills lyrics about coping with his emotions and his deep-rooted turmoil.

In Kwaku's words he tells us: "This song is about the short-term things I sometimes indulge in, to get me through tough times. When I just need some sort of high or feeling of euphoria to get me through unprecedented times brought on by uncertainty and frustration in things not happening maybe as fast as I would like them to. Addictions come in many forms (drugs, alcohol, women, sex) one of them being praise 'feeling gassed up like I'm high off propane', fulling my ego when people tell me how good I am at what I do."

This follows on from the mesmerising "Angel" (also taken from the EP) and both tracks paint a clear picture of the unique blend of themes and down-to-earth lyrics we can expect to hear across Ode.
