Kojey Radical Explores The Importance Of Youth-Led Community In 'Through Music We Rise' Documentary

June 28, 2022

Kojey Radical has always been one to give back and recently he's been thinking of the community that nurtured his creative spirit in his younger years. In a new documentary called Through Music We Rise, he's connected with the Rise 365 youth club in Hackney to pass on his wisdom and off the next generation the tools they need. It's an important piece that speaks to the wider issue of youth centres being shut down and the limiting effect that can have on young people.

Directed by Ade Femzo, the documentary follows six aspiring musicians from Rise 365 who spend the day writing and recording music while Kojey dips in and out of their sessions to offer wise words of advice on the industry and music-making. The six musicians also share their perspectives on how impactful this youth space has been for their own development.

Speaking on the documentary, Kojey says: "You can't beat that youthful excitement to be here—if you can give that opportunity to young people that really want it and you can see and feel that hunger that's what it's about. It's inspiring for me; it's inspiring to them and it's only going to do good things in the long run."

Through Music We Rise is an essential watch so tap in below.
