Knucks Celebrates His 25th Birthday With "Jubillee"

April 02, 2020

It seems like just yesterday that Knucks caught the attention of the UK rap scene with "21 Candles" to cement his 21st birthday. Now, as he returns to mark his 25th with "Jubilee", he reflects on his journey so far, celebrating his successes and detailing some pivotal moments in his upbringing.

These days it's hard to talk about rap and lyricism without Knucks' name being brought up — and understandably so: on "Jubilee", he shows us exactly why as his smooth flow and tricky wordplay glide over the nostalgic, orchestra-dominated instrumentation. Without wasting a bar, he uses his well-honed technique to control the track by switching up the tempos with multiple flows, placing an added shine on his creative edge.

"Jubilee" contains a snippet from Stormzy's Glastonbury speech where he shouted out the North West Londoner, highlighting just how far Knucks has come. Stormzy's not the only great to recognise Knuck's talent either; later in the track, he also talks about how he achieved his aspiration to rap with Wretch 32, another artist who's expressed consistent support.

Between "21 Candles" and "Jubilee", Knucks has consistently given us pieces of art and the development in his music over the years is something to behold. With the rapper coming into his prime years, we can only expect even more heat from the smooth lyricist.
