Kay Young & Ego Ella May Accept Fate's Path On "Woe Is Me"

March 17, 2023

The soulful Kay Young has delivered the video for "Woe Is Me", taken from her imminent EP "We Meet At Last". The slow and sultry track features fellow neo-soul multi-hyphenate Ego Ella May, who assists in delivering Young's lament.

"Yeah, I'm sorry if you came to hear some glitter and gold/Nah, not today" she says on the track—the rich production of the self-produced "Woe Is Me" standing in contrast to the track's subject. The slow grind of "making it" preoccupies Young's mind and her lyrics; she speaks of determination, self-doubt and pride in what she's done thus far, before landing in acceptance of her journey, realising that it "could be a blessing it ain't happened over night/I guess I'll just enjoy the ride".

The track also comes with a warm, soft-lit video from director Dylan Hayes. Settle into the video's candle-lit, jazz club setting below.
