Kasai Calls Time On Bad Behaviour With "Drunk Diary, Liquor & Weed"

March 11, 2021

West London-hailing Kasai continues to cement her reputation as one of the most exciting new talents in R&B, penning emotionally charged gems with candour and directness. On her latest, "Drunk Diary, Liquor & Weed", she takes that even further with some of her most honest songwriting to date.

Drawing a figurative line in the sand, "Drunk Diary, Liquor & Weed" takes aim at the way men often use alcohol as both a catalyst and an excuse. Understandably, she's had enough and that's thrown into sharp relief in Aliyah Otchere's understated, black-and-white visuals that follow Kasai and her friends as the night progresses and the drinks flow.

"'Drunk Diary' came together in a moment where writing felt therapeutic to me," Kasai explains. "This song was a safe place for me to speak on something I've been through and opens up the rest of the story of the EP. I also felt it was the first song where I began to find more of my voice and its influenced everything I've made since. I've got special memories of making it with amazing people."

The new single is lifted from her upcoming Not That Normal Pt. 1 EP, which is slated for release later in the year.
