Kamal. Submerges Fans In His World With New Mixtape 'so here you are, drowning'

March 20, 2023

Last Friday, Northwest London's indie pop star, Kamal. released his highly anticipated mixtape, so here you are, drowning. The title is inspired by Caleb Azumah Nelson's novel "Open Water", and even beyond its name and cover art, the tape carries different themes that revolve around water.

Summarised as documenting the feeling of trying to stay afloat; the tensions between co-dependency and martyrdom in a relationship and ultimately drowning in it all, the moody and honest aesthetic is one for all the #sadboiz and #sadgurlz out there.

so here you are, drowning capitalises on the buzz that he's built over the past couple of years. Having been recognised by the Ivor Novello awards, racked up over 250 million streams, and collaborated with Dave on "Mercury", the new mixtape isn't just designed to cash in on his momentum, but add to it.

Listen to Kamal's. so here you are, drowning, below.
