KAM-BU Taps Into Rave Culture's Revolutionary Spirit With New Drop "Live-O"

February 27, 2023

KAM-BU is back with another rabble-rousing single, "Live-O", and it draws its inspiration from some of the different strains of rave culture that have influenced Kam's outlook in parallel with his love of rap.

Produced by Tom Dinsdale and JD Reid, "Live-O" pulls in threads from the worlds of '90s garage, house music, and even the Madchester rave scene. The end result has a big, warehouse feel with wah-wah guitar effects colliding with crunchy 2-step and breakbeats, with Kam's strident vocals unifying it all.

This is far from a one-off, having worked in the past with club-focused producers like Leon Vynehall and Pullen on his Black On Black project. Word has it, this is also a sign of what's to come in the near future.

Speaking on LIVE-O Kam says, "LIVE-O is a rave-ready anthem about the reigniting of adventure through the power of music, an ode to 'free party' culture and forest raves. The industrial sound blended tongue and cheek lyricism pointing towards the lost way of myself and the times. However, there's something about the dance which has and always will be liberating".

Get fired up with it below.

Updated on March 6: the official video has now been released.
