British-born Nigerian Joshua Idehen marks his solo debut with the poetic "Don't You Give Up On Me".

The airy production comes courtesy of Ludvig Parment which begins with a heavenly piano accompaniment and electronic effects while Idehen's delicate words plead for a little more patience and grace as he faces his mistakes, setting out on a path towards healing. "I hope you are there for me," he chants, fading into the distance as the production builds in texture, introducing a groove-laced bassline and a warm gush of gospel choir vocals.

Speaking on the track, Idehen explains: "It's a poem about second chances and forgiving yourself. Maybe it's just me, but I feel people are too quick with each other these days: I know I've been guilty of it at times. this is a plea for a bit more patience with each other, and for me to be a bit more patient with myself."

Widely celebrated for his powerful musings on identity and politics through collaborative tracks with jazz bands, producers, and musicians, "Don't You Give Up On Me" marks the genesis of a new era for Joshua Idehen. Press play on the Agatha Powa-directed visuals below.
