Gorgon City Vocalist Josh Barry Pours The Agony Of The Blues Into Debut EP 'Art & Soul'

April 14, 2021

After years spent touring as lead vocalist with Gorgon City, singer-songwriter Josh Barry is stepping out with his own creations, beginning with debut EP, Art & Soul.

Away from the club-oriented sounds of Gorgon City, Barry's been dabbling in classic R&B and soul sounds for some time now, performing live and recording inventive covers of tracks like "Vossi Bop", but he really kicked his solo work into gear last year with "All Add Up".

Having gathered even more pace in the intervening years, Art & Soul is a visceral explosion of blues that sounds as if it were built on decades of heartbreak and pain. Across six tracks he sews together the blues, '70s soul and vintage R&B for a soulful but full-bodied sound.

Speaking on his debut EP, Josh comments: "It's taken a team effort over these past years to bring this body of work this far, so to know that they are finally out in the ether is beyond exciting.

"Looking at the response from the first singles is so encouraging and to receive such inspiring feedback from other artists, creatives and fans around the world, fills me with pride. It's an addictive feeling that validates all the hard work. I feel truly blessed to be able to pursue this, especially in the current climate.

"Thank you to all of my team and my family and friends for helping me bring this to life."
