Jorja Smith has returned with big new single, "Try Me".

The hard-hitting, confrontational track has the Midlands singer exploring her feelings about, in her words, "Putting yourself out there, in front of a world that has many opinions as it only ever used to be me really being my own critic". Her mood on the track is fierce and resolute, and that's given yet more weight by the pumping drum beats at the heart of the production from duo DAMEDAME.

Alongside the single, we've also got an arresting set of visuals courtesy of director Amber Grace Johnson. Set in southern France, we find Jorja battling those opinions and judgments that she faces in a huge, empty amphitheatre in Arles. The interpretive dance routine that she and Andrea Bou Othmane engage in ends in Jorja's victory, dramatically illustrating how she intends to respond to the views and opinions thrown at her.

"Try Me" is the first release from Smith via independent label FAMM. Having become a staple in the UK and international scene over the last few years, it seems that Smith is stepping into a new phase, determined to take her destiny into her own hands.
