Jorja Smith is gearing up to have her crowning moment as she prepares for the release of her next album, Falling Or Flying (due September 29). Ahead of that, she's just released the video for the title track.

The new track is a dramatic, emotive track that would fall into the ballad bracket if not for a robust yet subtle drum pattern. Produced by DAMEDAME*, Jorja croons about the feelings of, as the title suggests, falling and flying, and being in a situation where she can't tell the difference. "Falling Or Flying" is a bold piece of songwriting and you can hear that Jorja isn't afraid to push the boundaries of her creativity.

This is a far cry from the good-time vibes of "Little Things", which Jorja dropped earlier in the year, and different again from the other previously released tracks "GO GO GO" and "Try Me", despite the latter two tracks also being produced by DAMEDAME*. What we can likely take from that is that having no expectations of what the album's sound is probably best advised.

Given that she's made her directorial debut with the video for "Falling Or Flying", one thing we can be sure of is that the album will mark a new era for the singer. Explaining how the video came to be, she says it "came to mind 'cause I always wanted to shoot a video in space. 'Falling Or Flying' just made me think of that. I wanted to go up into space with someone I love and cherish, but they didn't want to come with me."
