West London's Jelani Blackman has dropped his first release of the year last week with the romantic cut "Rise". Alongside Irish artist Biig Piig, Jelani enters his lover-boy bag as he serenades the girl that he loves to wake up with.

Speaking on the track, Jelani says: "Being in love and waking up next to the person you wanna be with and the sun's out is one of the best feelings in the world. Couldn't have asked anyone better to share this song with; me and Biig Piig met last year at a festival, I think her voice and lyrics bring out all the feeling of that emotion."

Biig Piig adds: "This song really captures a moment in time, when you're with someone and love is so intense, it's like the golden hour all the time."

Biig Piig might seem a surprising fit for a Jelani record, but the two find an easy chemistry on Jacob Manson's soft and emotive production. Having met her at a festival last year, "Rise" is where Jelani and Biig complement each other perfectly.

We last heard from Jelani when he dropped "Izit" featuring Kojey Radical in November. The difference in sound between the two records suggests that the artist has spent the last few months expanding and experimenting his sound. And with news that his debut album will be arriving later this year, fans of his will be looking to hearing the results.
