JD. Reid Shares First Project In Three Years, 'sometimes i wonder 001'

April 05, 2024

North London's JD. Reid has dropped a new four-track EP, sometimes i wonder 001. It's his first solo release in three years (his last was the 16-track North West's Finest mixtape) and in his time away he's ramped up his unique and abstract approach to his craft.

Deftly balancing light and dark palettes, club energy and moments of reflection, he covers a lot of ground in the EP's relatively brief runtime. As he explains in more detail below, he wanted the EP to show just how much he's evolved in the last three years.

Speaking on the EP, Reid shares: "I love the feeling you get when you hear something for the first time that really resonates with you but it feels brand new. Above all though, the drive behind this EP was that it was important to come back better and in a different space musically from the last time I released music, because as a person, I'm in a different space now too."

Known for his work with heavy hitters like Mabel and Mahalia, as well as prized UK acts such as Katy B, Yazmin Lacey and Jeshi. He's brought adventurous new sides out of the artists he's worked with, but sometimes i wonder 001 is a welcome return.
