Following the release of the Lazarus EP last year, House Of El returns with "Better". Adopting an eclectic Gospel-influenced sound, "Better" intertwines his shimmering vocals with the relentless rhythms of the kick drums and the brass grooves of the trumpets, all the while nodding to the Parliament/Funkadelic-led funk scenes of the 1970s.

"Better" is one with an aching soul and discreet impact, but it does well to remain sanguine even in life's darker corners. Centred around a buoyant and motivational essence, the celestial backing vocals make for a soothing listen. Finally, as the track draws to a close, we end with a snippet of an upcoming track, which sounds just as enticing.
