Hope Ikpoku Jnr Drops Gems On Friendship And Priorities In "Leaving A Dent" Visuals

June 08, 2022

After blowing us away with an incredible screen performance on Netflix's Top Boy series, shining star Hope Ikpoku Jnr is now showcasing the breadth and depth of his creative spirit byplanting his feet in the music game. "Stop The Rain" was his debut track and now he follows that up with the mellow "Leaving A Dent".

While his initial offering played with some heavy drill sentiments, "Leaving A Dent" cuts back on the cruddy production, introducing more melodic layers over skittish hi-hats and a potent bass line courtesy of 42BM.

Hope draws his lyrics from a personal place as he reflects on fake friends and the growing pains of a young adult. After a few verses, he lists all the things he's hoping to leave a dent on, making it known that there's plenty more space for him to occupy in the future.

For the visuals, he connects with Making Numbers; through a monochromatic filter, we watch Hope perform his rhymes in a room filled with chic art.
