HERITAGE: Wiley Followed His Mainstream Success With This All-Star Anthem "She Likes To" (2009)

July 05, 2019

In the late 2000s, Wiley was riding high in the charts with the likes of "Wearing My Rolex", "Summertime" and "Cash In My Pocket". He followed up that mainstream success with an opportunity to use his platform to showcase the greatness of leading MCs on "She Likes To" AKA "The England 10".

The track featured J2K, Wrigley, Ice-Kid, Wretch 32, Ghetts, Bashy, Scorcher, Chip (then Chipmunk) and Griminal, "She Likes To" was divisive among fans to say the least. It wasn't grime at all, utilising a something closer to boom bap. Regardless of what you thought, you have to concede that there are some very strong verses on this one, particularly Bashy, Wretch 32 Ice Kid and Griminal. This moment signified a coming together of the scene, putting differences aside to bridge the gap between the underground and mainstream, in a manner that only Wiley could created.
