HERITAGE: Wideboys Join Forces With Dennis G To Deliver A True UK Garage Classic In "Sambuca" (2001)

Production powerhouse duo The Wideboys were unparalleled hit-makers in the late 1990s and early 2000s, working with some of the scene's finest vocalists including Shola Ama, Rose Windross and silky-voiced singer Dennis G. However, their success wasn't just limited to the garage scene (although they did absolutely dominate).

After finding major success with "Sambuca" (occasionally spelled "Sambucca"), which peaked at Number 15 in the Official UK Charts and Number 1 in the Dance Charts, the pair went on to become the pop world's go-to remixers, taking on Craig David's "Rewind" and Artful Dodger's "Woman Trouble" (which also featured Craig David) to particular acclaim, as well as handing in remixes for Rihanna, Liberty X, Kylie, Pussycat Dolls and countless other pop titans.

For garage ravers, however, "Sambuca" remains their greatest work, an uptempo banger with a smooth edge thanks to Dennis G. With its fast-paced, jumpy percussion, the track would also find a new lease of life in UK funky remixes and DJ sets years later.
