HERITAGE: Underrated R&B Trio Loose Ends "Work Their Way From Croydon To Success" As They Perform "Hangin' On A String" (1985)

April 04, 2018

Back in 1985, Soul Train creator and host Don Cornelius decided to branch out beyond the U.S with a British version of his iconic music show. Named 620 Soul Train, for whatever reason, the show sadly only lasted for one season but it did give us some absolute gold in its brief tenure.

The show was hosted by former Soul Train dancer and Shalamar vocalist Jeffrey Daniel and did a great job of showcasing British talent within the worlds of soul, R&B, hip-hop, reggae and the rest. One group that appeared more than once was the criminally underrated Loose Ends, performing "Magic Touch" and their biggest hit "Hangin' On A String".

For today's Heritage, we've got the latter performance, introduced by Daniel with typical flare and playfulness. Loose Ends may not be superstars today, but, as the YouTube comments suggest, their fanbase is still as passionate and loyal as they were back then.
