As grime's last great resurgence was beginning to plateau towards the second half of the 2010s, there was a bit of an anything-goes vibe in British music. Grime was still definitely popping off (and it's still doing bits to this day, before you jump in) but UK drill, rap, and Afroswing were starting to take over.

This early banger from Tion Wayne and Afro B was one of the many meeting points between rap and Afroswing—a combination Tion in particular has made a career out of. It was a wild time for both genres, ushering in a new wave of bouncy UK rap that embraced melody without softening the street credentials—an approach that would ultimately change both the underground and the charts for years to come.
