HERITAGE: The Late Jamal Edwards Challenges WSTRN's Louis Rei To Touch On Three Topics "Represent, Girls & Politics" For His On Topic Series (2013)

By now, it doesn't need repeating that Louis Rei is a master rhymer. Of course, he'll always deserve credit for his work in WSTRN, but it's always worth going back to his solo rap stuff from across the years—especially so this freestyle for SBTV's On Topic series.

It's also worth mentioning that at this point in SBTV's history, the late, great Jamal Edwards had taken the time to recalibrate the channel and some of the different series it ran. The F64 series will always be remembered as one of the finest freestyle series the UK's ever seen, but with On Topic, Jamal decided he wanted to do things a little differently. Rather than just barring to show your ability, this was more geared towards pushing rappers and MCs into different areas and subject matters and challenging them as lyricists.

Selecting Louis Rei as one of the first in the series was just one of Jamal's countless wise decisions. Answering the call for a freestyle focused on the words 'represent, girls and politics', the West Londoner meets the challenge head-on and absolutely excels.
