HERITAGE: Skepta Sprays Some Impromptu Bars Over "Morgue", "Functions On The Low" And More For New York Crowd (2015)

May 01, 2018

When Skepta made his triumphant return around 2014, it was a whirlwind journey that took him from London to America, Japan and everywhere in between. It was in New York that he found particularly devoted fans, from kids on the street to big name industry players.

A lot of the work that went into that was good old fashioned grinding. Take today's video, for example. In the clip, which was partially featured in the Greatness Only documentary, Skepta rocks up at a basketball court with Shorty, Maximum, a camera and not much else. Then, over some classic grime instrumentals — that include XTC's "Functions On The Low" and Wiley's "Morgue" — Skepta digs deep into his arsenal for a non-stop tour of some of his most iconic bars.

The rest is mostly well-trodden history, but this was a forgotten gem we thought was worth reminding you of. Unfortunately, you can't find the full video on YouTube, but a copy does exist here on Dropbox.
