HERITAGE: SBTV Captures This Early, Stripped-Back Freestyle Of Young Adz On His Come-Up (2011)

July 26, 2022

Come September 16, D-Block Europe will release their long-awaited new project Lap 5. We've only had a handful of singles so far—"Black Beatles", "Elegant & Gang", and "Fantasy"—but already fans and critics alike are predicting it'll be up there with the best of their catalogue.

Adz and LB's journey's over a decade in the making and it's seen them evolve dramatically as artists. Back in the early days of DBE, when they'd barely even set their partnership in stone, Young Adz in particular was banging out some legendary freestyles. We've highlighted a few already, but this early Warm Up Session for SBTV is always worth revisiting.

Armed with the instrumental from Fabolous' "One Day", and with LB (or Lil Bantz as he was back then), it's another surgical breakdown of street politics, life lessons, and the kind of hard-earned wisdom most kids his age are years away from. Yet another reminder of just how naturally this rap stuff comes to him.
