A good deal of the success that UK R&B artists are enjoying now couldn't have happened were it not for the work of artists like Angel. One of the hardest-working artists of all time, he helped build the scene's identity as we know it today, but that's not to say he didn't admire what was going on stateside.

Here he is putting his own spin on Pharrell's ubiquitous early 2010s hit "Happy" back in 2013, the same year his debut album About Time dropped. Accompanied by just an acoustic guitar and a couple of backing singers, he makes quick of the arrangement, putting everyone to work before calmly belting out his much more soulful take on the track.
