A lot of people have a lot of strong opinions about the exact moment grime was born. Regardless of where you pinpoint it, garage had been getting darker and laying the foundations for grime since the turn of the millennium.

So Solid Crew's "21 Seconds" is often held up as one of the pivotal moments in that transition, but Oxide & Neutrino's "Rap Dis" (which saw them connect with fellow crew members Kaish, Harvey, Scat D and Swiss) absolutely has to be in the conversation with its dramatic strings, shuddering rhythm and rapid-fire MCing.

Although it wasn't included on their essential debut album Execute, when it was released with "Only Wanna Know U Cos Ure Famous" it proved to be a huge smash.
