HERITAGE: Lioness Unleashes Her Killer Flow In This Performance At Brixton's 'Bump' At Plan B (2011)

October 22, 2021

It was almost 10 years ago to the day that grime legend Lioness put out her Roarness mixtape. A landmark release in grime, it remains an essential listen for Lioness fans and grime fans in general—and it also happened to be the first time a TSB production was released into the wild.

To promote the tape, Lioness worked tirelessly that year, shelling down radio sets and making countless live appearances. One of those was at the Bump club night at Brixton's Plan B club. That club night has more than its own share of grime history to dig into, but that's for another day.

Captured by Verena Grotto for her Kids Of Grime platform, Lioness performs "All Black Winter" and her "Wooo Riddim" freestyle to a packed-out room of adoring fans, including none other than Lady Leshurr. Unfortunately, the video gets a little glitchy after the first few minutes, but what remains is a golden moment in grime history and a lesson in how lively promo tours can and should be.
