HERITAGE: Krept & Konan Light Up The Royal Albert Hall With "Don't Waste My Time" (2015)

Back in 2015, UK music found itself in a bit of a transitional period. Grime's explosion in popularity was still going strong, but UK rap (and, to a certain extent, drill) was waiting in the wings. One of the key tunes to usher in rap's own time in the sun was Krept & Konan's massive anthem "Don't Waste My Time".

Lifted from their Young Kingz album from 2013, this track and the whole album helped bridge the gap between the two scenes and bring a whole legion of fans over to what was, at the time, a massively neglected underground rap scene.

Not surprisingly, the Thornton Heath pair were invited to perform an orchestral version of the hit as part of the 1Xtra Grime Prom. A bit more eclectic than the name might suggest, the concert also featured performances from Chip, Stormzy, Wretch 32 and Shola Ama, Little Simz, Fekky and more.

You can get a closer look at the night and how it all came together here, but with such a stacked line-up, it says a lot that Krept & Konan's performance was held up by many as one of the best, if not the best, of the night.
