HERITAGE: Knucks Shows His Exceptional Skills During This Early Freestyle For Kenny Allstar (2016)

May 13, 2022

This time last week Knucks released his stunning new mixtape, Alpha Place, a crowning achievement that came with a stack of cinematic visuals and a masterful turn as co-executive producer alongside his old friend and collaborator Venna.

The new tape was well received and even troubled the charts, and although pretty much everyone would agree that praise and success was long overdue, it's worth considering just how long he's been owed these flowers.

In fact, his debut mixtape, Killmatic, came out all the way back in 2014 and even then he'd been putting in the work for a couple of years. This Kenny Allstar freestyle, recorded around the same time, should give you some idea of just how supremely talented he was right from day one. Making light work of some classic instrumentals, including Jay Z and Mya's "Best Of Me", he delivers it with the steady-handed, quiet power of an old pro. It's just a shame it took us all this time to catch on.
