HERITAGE: Jessie J Performs "Big White Room" At Renowned Unplugged Platform I Luv Live (2010)

June 17, 2022

It's hard to overstate just how important I Luv Live is as a platform. Since its launch in 2004, it's had a tonne of legends pass through its London base—all before blowing up to become huge stars—including Ed Sheeran, Tinie Tempah, Emeli Sandé, Krept & Konan, Ray BLK, Ms Banks, Little Simz, Kojey Radical, Mahalia, and Jessie J.

This epic 2010 performance from Jessie was a pivotal moment for the London-raised singer. Lifted from her debut album, Who You Are, it was the first track she ever wrote at 17, inspired by the death of a young boy she met while in hospital and remains one of her most deeply personal songs to this day.

Although "Big White Room" wasn't released as a single, its effect on the room at this performance was a sign of the huge success just around the corner. Six of the seven singles the album did ultimately spawn hit the top 10 and one of them, "Price Tag", even hit the number 1 spot. Two years after this performance she performed at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London and her status as household name was secure.
