HERITAGE: Ghetts Delivers Pure Fire During This Launch At Uptown Records (2008)

September 07, 2021

2021 really has been Ghetts' year. His latest album, Conflict Of Interest, dropped in February and set the tone for an incredible year for British music. Critically and commercially celebrated, the album shot up the charts and found him a whole new legion of fans all around the world — and all on his own terms.

It's not just the new album that deserves to be celebrated, it's the nearly two decades of work he's put into grime and Black British music as a whole. Central to that hard are the electrifying freestyles, cyphers and clashes he's notched up over the years.

This one, recorded alongside fellow The Movement teammate Devlin, was filmed for the launch of Uptown Records and put out via the Wet My Beak DVD. With JJ on deck, Ghetts (in Ghetto mode) and Devlin bang out mile-a-minute flows to earn reload after reload.

By rights, this really should be celebrated in the same breath as his iconic Risky Roadz freestyle.
