HERITAGE: Even As Far Back As This Early Freestyle It Was Clear Novelist Was Destined For Awards (2012)

August 02, 2018

Novelist's nomination for Album Of The Year at the 2018 Mercurys was one of the few on the list not to be met with controversy or eye rolls. Few disagree Novelist Guy earned its place on that list and it's easy to see why.

Most people first heard Nov via Mumdance collabs "Take Time" and "1 Sec" or his work with The Square. Long before that, though, the Lewisham emcee was proving his mettle time and time again with head-spinning freestyles like it was nothing.

This one for Acton Entertainment, for example, is just one of many examples of how much talent and charisma he's had from early. Filmed back in 2012 when he was just 15 years old, Nov goes in with lines like "every one of my bars is so sick that I got beef with paramedics" and describing the opps as being "backwards like Mill Meek". From there it just gets better and better so watch below and look out for the awards in September to see if he wins.
