HERITAGE: D Double E Talks About His Journey As An MC In This Early Interview On 'Lord Of The Decks' (2003)

The seminal Lord Of The Decks DVD series was, in the absence of mainstream media coverage, one of the most vital records of grime's formative years (alongside others like Lord Of The Mics, Aim High, Practice Hours and the like). A mixture of interview segments, freestyles and exclusive tracks, each volume was essential for grime fans at the time.

This particular interview, a roadside chat with D Double E, was lifted from the second volume in the series and, although short in length, comes with some pretty interesting pieces of history. Here Double talks about his earliest days on the mic — which stretch right back to '94/'95 when he was a jungle/D&B MC — as well as his recent trip to Ayia Napa. Sadly, he also talks about working on an album with early grime duo G-Force, which of course never quite materialised. Still, at least we have Jackuum.
