HERITAGE: Ratlin, Squeeks, Benny Banks & More Unite On Golden Era Rap Joint "I Hope" (2011)

Between the sample debate and worries about the mainstream watering things down, UK rap has come a long way in the last 10 years. Still, these are nice problems to have and there's certainly plenty to celebrate.

What's also worth remembering is that none of this could've happened without the thankless work of pioneers like Benny Banks, Squeeks, Ratlin, and G Money. Back in the early 2010s these legends were laying the foundations of our thriving scene with raw, often emotional anthems like "I Hope" (which also featured a hook from Rudimental collaborator Thomas Jules).

For the video, Ade and Rashad take us on a cross-London link-up, starting in West London's Mozart estate and working our way across Wood Green and Tufnell Park before finishing with a late-night shoot in Old Street with Benny.
