HERITAGE: A Young Hardy Caprio, Then Known As Profitz, Drops This Heartfelt Freestyle (2012)

Back in 2012, as part of London hosting the Olympics, adidas ran a competition called Take The Stage in which various famous faces sought out the talents of up-and-comers in sport, music and entertainment. Handling the music side of things was Wretch 32 who put out the call for young musicians to send in their entries.

The project was launched with a star-studded advert (soundtracked by Wretch) that featured David Beckham, Example, Daly Thompson, Devlin, Tom Daly and, for some reason, Keith Lemon. Unlike some competitions that produce a winner who sinks without trace, this competition actually ended up giving us a future chart-topper: none other than Hardy Caprio.

Known back then as Profitz, Caprio's entry was a no-frills rap workout performed with his friend G'Soulz. Appealing to Wretch's love of conscious and highly lyrical hip-hop, Caprio delivers a cerebral breakdown of street life before telling the world about his burning desire for success and the countless hours he's invested in his craft.
