HERITAGE: A$AP Rocky Drops A Skepta Impression As He Sheds Light On The Story Behind "Praise The Lord" (2018)

June 04, 2019

Early last year, long time friends and collaborators Skepta and A$AP Rocky made history with "Praise The Lord (Da Shine)", a transatlantic link-up that would see the pair spend 21 weeks in the UK charts (peaking at number 18), put them in the Billboard Hot 100 and earn them platinum certification.

As Rocky explains in this Genius video below, the track was recorded in London one of his many trips to our capital. The story goes that the pair spent a lot of time together on that trip and in one particular session (while dabbling in a little acid), Skepta started putting together the infectious hook, taking inspiration from DMX's 1998 single "Damien" (The snake, the rat, the cat, the dog).

Also, pay close attention for Rocky's absolutely dynamite Skepta impression.
