A New Helpline Has Been Launched To Tackle Mental Health Issues In The Music Industry

December 05, 2017

When Chester Bennington tragically took his own life earlier this year, once again the issue of mental health in the music industry was brought to the fore.

Help Musicians UK, a British charity focusing on that very topic, recently commissioned a study called Can Music Make You Sick? The results overwhelmingly confirmed that many people in the industry, not just musicians, are struggling with issues ranging from depression to anxiety.

This summer, Help Musicians UK announced Music Minds Matter, a 24/7 helpline service for people seeking "clinical and therapeutic help, grant funding and bespoke legal, welfare, debt and benefits advice". The service also aims to help those working around the industry, too, whether they work in management, at a label or any other facet of the industry. They also offer support from the very beginning of someone's career right through to retirement.

Find out more here or call the helpline from the UK on 0808 802 8008, which is free of charge in the UK.
