Headie One Reassesses The Past On New Album 'The Last One'

July 01, 2024

Headie One has released his latest album, The Last One. The Tottenham star has been one of the most important acts of the UK's music scene since his breakthrough single "Know Better" back in 2017 and his classic The One mixtape, but he's come a long way since then.

This new album is loaded with stars from the UK and abroad; Stormzy, Potter Payper, AJ Tracey, D Block Europe, Sampha represent the UK, Tay Keith and Fridayy form the American contingent while BNXN, Tay Iwar, and Odumodublvck come through to represent Headie's African heritage.

Reflecting over sticky situations and tough times on "Martin's Sofa" and "I Still Know Better", Headie shows introspection and reflection that you rarely get from drill rappers—although he's always been bigger than any one genre or sound.

This project marks the end of an era for the Tottenham MC. Now free from the binds of his past and ready to embrace a new chapter, Headie describes the new album as "the beginning of the end".

While we wait to see what that means, listen to the album below.
