Hak Baker Cherishes His "Brotherhood" In New Video

November 20, 2023

2023 has been a breakout year for Hak Baker, and he's deserved every plaudit he's got in this run. To top off his most recent achievement of opening up for Little Simz for both of her dates at Alexandra Palace, he's delivered the visual for "Brotherhood", one of the cuts lifted from his most recent album Worlds End FM.

"Brotherhood" is a raucous cut with Hak telling a story of life lived at whirlwind pace, told at a relentless rate of knots. The track's intensity builds and builds until the point of crescendo with Hak yelling about why he has to keep his tears in, for the sake of his brothers.

The video comes from director Will Robson-Scott, who captures every ounce of that emotional tension as Hak performs the track under spotlight in an otherwise dark room.

Sharing his thoughts on the track, Hak writes: "What I have come to understand through life and trauma is that the Brotherhood is for life. Formed in hostility, it evolves into something beautiful, trustworthy and lifelong. I'd be half the man I am today without my brothers. We cry, sing, argue, win, celebrate, and go through pains together. Listen to my song 'Brotherhood'. Sometimes things that cannot be explained through words alone are easier transcripted through song. But I tried."
