Greentea Peng Signals Debut Album With Soulful Mind Expander "Nah It Ain't The Same"

February 25, 2021

Known for cultivating unconventional sounds, South London's Greentea Peng is now officially en-route to releasing her highly-anticipated debut album this summer, and we can surely expect plenty of psychedelic genre hybrids.

First out the gates is "Nah It Ain't The Same", a jazz and soul concoction produced by long-time collaborator Earbuds and imbued with the kind of punk expressiveness only Greentea Peng is capable of. Rather than glossing over the complexities of life, GTP says it how it is, mixing melody and poetry in a noticeably downcast, stream-of-consciousness type flow.

The visuals, directed by Machine Operated, show her right in her element, surrounded by natural, earthly remedies and exotic fruits of life while strutting around London and indulging in her spiritual home comforts with support of her band, The Seng Seng Family.

Speaking on Instagram about "Nah It Ain't The Same", Greentea Peng explains: "Thank you to everyone who helped bring this together. It's been a real process forming this album, a real trip. I'm so excited to begin this roll out, I have sooooo much music/energy to engulf you with it's wild. But I'll start with this. Hope you enjoy. Deliberations of a (hu) man subject to the pendulum swing, a reflection of my utter confusion and inner most conflicts/contradictions amidst these shifting paradigms. Always LOVE, always mushrooms. PEACE."

There's no definitive release date just yet, but you can expect the new album some time this summer.
