With Notting Hill Carnival fast approaching, the warmup is in full swing. Front and centre in your calendar should be next week's Girls I Rate x Nando's takeover.

It's a special year for Carnival, which celebrates its 60th anniversary, and this exclusive event in London on August 19 is the perfect pre to get you fired up.

It's an all-star line-up, with Bermuda-born viral star Madison B headlining the event. Also on the bill are R&B and dancehall fusion singer Monifa Goss, dancehall selectors Portia Walker and DJ Emz, multi-genre DJ Ambra, and award-winning singer-songwriting duo The Sundivas.

Taking us across the Caribbean and the diaspora, expect dancehall, soca, R&B, UK funky, Amapiano, and Afro-influenced sounds—not to mention complimentary Nando's, exclusive giveaways, and an open-mic spot.

The seeds of the event were planted during a conversation between Madison and Girls I Rate founder and Grammy-nominated songwriter Carla Marie Williams MBE, who wanted to host a women-led Caribbean event.

Speaking on the impetus behind the event, Carla Marie Williams MBE shares: "In the studio with Madison, we spoke about our love for Caribbean music and the importance of creating spaces where women could celebrate the culture that has shaped them. So, we created this event spotlighting the next generation of artists, DJs, producers, dancers and creatives, celebrating our culture and creating opportunities for women to connect and thrive.

"Growing up in Harlesden, North West London, as a British-Jamaican woman, Caribbean culture has also been part of my DNA, shaping who I am and my love for music."

Madison B adds: "I'm so excited to be doing this Nando's summer takeover and repping for the Caribbean girlies! I love being able to bring my personality and culture into the things I do, so working with Girls I Rate on something this fun feels so natural."
