Girls I Rate Launch 'GETHEARD' Competition To Get More Women Into The Music Industry

May 06, 2021

Girls I Rate, the ground-breaking platform founded by Grammy-winning songwriter Carla-Marie Williams, has just launched a new competition called GETHEARD in partnership with the PRS Foundation and PRS For Music. The aim of the contest is to help young woman get their music heard by industry heavyweights and potentially win prizes that could help progress their careers.

All you have to do is submit one original track that you've written or composed and the top 10 will have their music heard by a panel of industry judges that includes YouTube's Sheniece Charway, Spotify's Safiya Lambie-Knight, DownTown's Davina Merchant, Since '93's Riki Bleau, BMG's Felix Howard and PRS' Michelle Escoffery.

Since the whole point of the Girls I Rate platform was to create opportunities for women in the music industry, they won't just pick one winner. Instead, there'll be a range of prizes on offer, including a £1,000, £2,000, or £3,000 bursary; a place on an engineer and production course at London's Institute of Contemporary Music Performance; Mixcloud subscriptions; Audio Technica Headphones and more — all of which can help you progress your career as a musician, singer, songwriter or producer.

For more information and to submit your entry, head here. Applications close at 9pm on Monday, May 31.
