Having started out as a seven-strong grime collective under the name Gritty Substancez nearly a decade ago, rapper Smuttz and producer/rapper Wise1 have since restructured the now six-man camp and go under the name Gifted Specimenz, with a new, bass-heavy sound that blurs the lines between grime and rap. And now Genesis, their debut project under the new name, has been unleashed unto the world.

Smuttz and Wise1's opening salvo gives us a broad yet cohesive look at their new sound, using huge amounts of bass and peppering elements of UK drill ("Vibrationz"), bassline ("Bounce") and even house music ("Tik Ting"), all of which nod to a thoroughly Midland-oriented sound.
