Ghetts Calls In Jaykae And Moonchild Sanelly For Hypnotising "Mozambique"

July 08, 2020

After teasing some mysterious artwork on his socials, Ghetts has finally revealed his powerful new single, "Mozambique", featuring Jaykae and Johannesburg singer Moonchild Sanelly, as well as some stunning new visuals.

Right from the jump, Ghetts uses his surgical flow to pepper Rude Kid's melancholy instrumental with some subtle venom before Moonchild uses a hypnotic chorus to paint a vivid picture that captures the entire energy of the track. Adding the finishing touches, Birmingham MC Jaykae jumps in with his killer flow and trademark swagger to rip the song to shreds.

Throughout the track, you can hear shades of Ghetto, Ghetts and J Clarke, and it just goes to show how much the legendary MC has perfected his craft as he utilises every weapon in his grimey arsenal—clarity, humour, wordplay, tempo switches and more. The colourful video, directed by Ruff Mercy and filmed by Saoud Khalaf, combines animation with abstract effects to make it feel like the artists are in the trenches, eliciting a heady combination of adrenaline and late-night nostalgia.

Taking to Twitter to explain how the collab came together, Ghetts wrote, "My G Moonchild Sanelly hit me and said she's in England. I replied, 'I'm in the lab cooking right now.' She said, 'Send the addy,' and the rest is history."

Elsewhere on Twitter, Ghetts also hinted that a new album was finished and ready to drop.
