Fraser T. Smith Reveals New Future Utopia Single "Stranger In The Night" With Arlo Parks

October 15, 2020

Following on from the recent "Children Of The Internet" with Dave, Fraser T. Smith has released a new single as part of his Future Utopia project, "Stranger In The Night", featuring British singer-songwriter and poet Arlo Parks. Parks, whose angelic vocals reach the inner depths of the soul, said of the song, "Fraser and I delved into ideas of love, mortality and hope for this very special tune. It's a celebration of the precious things in life and I feel honoured to be a part of it".

The production is low tempo and incredibly gentle, creating a subtle and restrained bed beneath Parks as she elegantly bares her soul. A shining example of the 'less is more' approach, "Stranger In The Night" is dignified and peaceful.

Fraser states, "This is one of the most tender moments on the album. I came up with the chords whilst jamming in the studio with Shiva Feshareki, and then invited Arlo to come and listen to it. She loved the vibe and we chatted for a long time about the question 'what matters most?' and how the answer could either be far-reaching, or deeply personal. Arlo let us into her world by answering the question as a short poem and we then proceeded to write the song."

"Stranger In The Night" will form part of Fraser T. Smith's forthcoming album 12 Questions, due for release on October 23.
