Frankie Stew & Harvey Gunn Fly The Flag For Brighton On 'The South's Got Something To Say'
Frankie Stew and Harvey Gunn have released their new album, the aptly named The South's Got Something To Say.
At 10 songs long, the album doesn't lack substance in the slightest; Frankie Stew opens up in typical fashion about the struggles and stresses rattling around his head over slower tempos and melancholy sounds provided by Harvey Gunn. The South's Got Something To Say only has three features—a standout verse on "No Idea" from Bawo, as well as features from Sidders and Tarian on "Hurt Locker" and "Half Of Mine", respectively—but the 'quality over quantity' approach serves the album well.
The rapper and producer duo have been putting on for their home city of Brighton, blazing a trail with their lo-fi blend of hip-hop and garage—and The South's Got Something To Say offers the most complete and fully-realised version of that sound.
