Footsie Announces Debut Album 'No Favours' And Drafts In Jme To Assist With "Pepper Stew"

March 19, 2020

It's been a long time coming to put it mildly, but Newham General and grime scene OG Footsie has just announced his debut album, No Favours, and he's dropped off the project's first single, "Pepper Stew" with Jme — as well as some energetic visuals from the highly prolific Chas Appeti.

The Kwes Darko-produced instrumental gives the seasoned veterans an awkward, stop-start riddim that should have a wave of nostalgia rushing over you. Far from being a throwback, Kwes then stirs those classic tropes into a forward-facing approach that has us hungrily awaiting the rest of the album.

Even the most casual grime fan will be thrilled to have their isolation soundtracked by two champs like Footsie and Jme, but that's only the beginning. Along with the announcement that the album would drop May 22 (pandemic permitting), he also confirmed the tracklist and a list of guest spots that includes CASISDEAD, D Double E, OG Rootz, Frisco, Jammer, President T, P Money, Triggz, Pepper Rose and J Appiah. Meanwhile, production comes from an equally star-studded group with Mystry, Blue Daisy aka Kwes Darko, Chase & Status, Skream, Sukh Knight, Samo & Kiko, and God Brothers all crafting beats for the album.

No Favours drops May 22 via Studio 55.
