Flowdan Partners With Snowman Baby For Eerie 'Black Rain' EP

November 08, 2021

Black Rain is Flowdan's first release of the year on his Spentshell imprint and sees him link up with former member of the legendary Aftershock crew Snowman Baby for this eerie five-track excursion.

Rammed with skittish trap percussion, rippling 808 bass and piercing synths, this project carries the sounds of classic grime while experimenting with dark, atmospheric layers throughout, courtesy of the versatile production abilities of Flowdan himself alongside Abstrakt Sonance.

Opener "Big Dilemma" sets the tone for the rest of the listening experience, overflowing with cruddy bars, before we are dip into the melodically-driven "Black Mask". "Front Page" follows next and sees both MC refusing to slow down with their punchy flows and in-your-face bars over a drill-tinged beat. Penultimate track "Nine Night" counteracts the high-energy of the project so far, which leads us nicely into the spaced-out wooziness of final track "Shooting Range".

Black Rain transcends genre boundaries and allows both MCs to showcase sides of them that we don't see as often. Take a spin with it below.
