Flowdan Channels The Cold Hostility Of The British Capital In "Welcome To London"

March 14, 2019

Ruthless and unforgiving are adjectives that could just as easily be used to describe Flowdan as they could the city that raised him: London. It's an old cliche that Londoners are cold and unfriendly, but it also happens to be an accurate one.

And that's something that Flowdan clearly took inspiration from on his new single "Welcome To London". As he wanders the city street, figuratively striding across Plastician's production, he even says himself: "nobody don't trust nobody round here".

It's not just unfriendliness that sparked Flowdan off, it's the general atmosphere of the city. It's about structural racism, over-zealous policing, homelessness, the rising cost of living, and the many other factors that come together to make London so tough to live in.

Flowdan explains: "Everybody is after the same thing — survival. This track is about survival after the Disaster Piece. We might not always see or understand them, but everyone has pressures and because of this you must be versatile in order to survive."
